Start Here: Game Access, Controls, and Your First Run

This is an introduction to using Retro-Arcade. The guides and history pages are freely readable. Game access depends on the cabinet’s tier, your account, and any applicable daily allowance. Use the current labels on the site rather than an old article’s game list when deciding what you can play.

Choose the right access filter

The catalogue’s availability counter describes access for the current visitor or account tier. It should not be read as a count of all working cabinets regardless of tier. An unavailable game and a playable game reserved for another tier are different states.

Open the game page before launching

The library lets you filter by genre, maker, system, and access tier. A cabinet’s detail page shows its identity and control mapping. Check the device note there: a touch mapping can make a game accessible on a phone without reproducing the physical feel of its original controls.

Select ordinary play for a first attempt. If the cabinet supports ranked play, its page offers that separately. A normal run is a better place to establish that your inputs work and that you understand the game’s credit and Start controls.

Your first credit

1. Wait for the cabinet to finish loading and acknowledge any displayed startup information.
2. Click or tap the player so that inputs reach the game.
3. Add a credit using the displayed coin input; the usual keyboard mapping is V.
4. Use the displayed Start input; the usual one-player mapping is Enter.
5. Check movement and one action before attempting combinations.

No separate emulator installation is needed. The browser still downloads the runtime and game files, and may store local settings or saves. “Browser play” does not mean zero data transfer or guaranteed offline access.

Keep the next step simple

If the player does not start, follow the loading-stage guide. If touch feels awkward, use the phone-control checklist. If you are curious about a particular cabinet, read a guide before buying access based on a remembered title.
